I never used to understand why people went on holiday to the same place over and over again. Now I get it. Northumberland is a second home to me. I visit friends and get to go to my favourite shops and restaurants. Mostly I go to the beach.
I love British beaches, rocky, covered in seaweed, sand piled up against groynes and warnings about swimming. I am half Australian and yet I love the cold, windy days on pebbled beaches far more than the smooth white sand of Queensland.
Kora was supposed to be going with me on this trip but the poor poppet gets so travel sick that she couldn’t go. I’m really, really hoping she grows out of it so I can take her beach-running with me next time.
